It is without a doubt that the Marc Jacobs beauty range is one of the most-hyped and most-coveted this year, and I have received a handful of them to review courtesy of Sephora. Here’s a breezy, quick Marc Jacobs Beauty review.

I’ve mentioned previously that the Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation (RM 189) would melt off around lunch time. I’ve tried it with the Make Up For Ever HD Definition Powder and my foundation lasted for the whole day. The foundation is smooth to apply, and provides buildable, medium coverage. Its texture is lightweight, semi-matte and not cakey, so the foundation gives a very natural, slightly dewy finish. Hands down, this my new favourite foundation.

The Magic Marc’er Precision Pen (RM 89) reminds me of a Mont Blanc pen with its lacquered exterior, weight and fine tip. The eyeliner is sticky and tightens as it dries, somehow pulling my eyelids upwards. Perhaps to make eyes appear bigger by actually holding them open? I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but if you have, please let me know. However, the liquid eyeliner is very pigmented, does not smudge nor fade, which is a plus for me.

I also received the Style Eye-Con No.7 named ‘Starlet’, which features an array of metallic shades. They are full of shimmer and pigmented as well, so a little goes a long way. Eyeshadows somehow always refuse to show whenever applied on my eyelids though.

Last but not least, the Lust For Lacquer Lip Vinyl (RM 89) in Boom Boom, which packs a punch with a hot pink shade with bits of blue microglitter. One swipe was all it took for a ridiculously glossy finish. The lip gloss has a cooling, menthol effect that may not sit well for some.

All in all, Marc Jacobs Beauty will be (or is already) a staple for women everywhere, and Marc Jacobs himself has successfully carved his name in the beauty industry. The chic, minimalistic packaging with glass bottles and glossy lacquer don’t hurt too, although the glossy exteriors are unforgiving towards lint and fingerprints.

Marc Jacobs Beauty is available at Sephora stores nationwide.
