I couldn’t resist Dior’s latest limited edition nail polish set, the Diorific Jewel Manicure Duo as the cute bauble-like packaging is back again. The set was available on Friday for RM124, and I was glad I decided to drop by the Dior counter then.

If applied properly (read my guide here), the gold polish provides a beautiful gilded finish with barely-visible brush streaks.

Dior takes on the 3D caviar manicure trend with its crystal clear pearls, which provide sparkles to each nail, almost akin to strassing.

Application is fairly easy with a thin first layer of the gold polish, and once completely dry, paint a thick second coat of gold polish and place your finger over the provided tray. Pour the pearls over the nail and gently press them into place. The tray catches the pearls that do not stick on on the nail.
Once the nail is completely covered with the pearls, pour the remaining pearls in the tray back into the bottle with the provided funnel.

I find that using a top coat (I use Seche Vite, best top coat ever) dulls the lustre of the pearls, but without it, the pearls would fall off almost immediately once the polish is dry. Spheres do have the smallest surface area, so it’s no surprise they won’t stay on for long.
The difference is shown in the first photo above (left half is with top coat, right half without).
