Push Up Liner
Push Up Liner

After reading loads of rave reviews on Benefit‘s They’re Real! Push-Up Liner, I was overjoyed when I received one in Sephora‘s Beauté Box.

The Push-Up Liner is well, pushed up to the Accuflex rubber tip by twisting the bottom of the pen, unlike conventional gel eyeliners that involve dipping a brush into a jar. I’ve never bothered to try gel eyeliners because I need an extra brush to apply my eyeliner, and products in jars dry out quicker and are more prone to contamination anyway. One point to Benefit for less clutter and another point for product longevity and reduced exposure to contamination.

Like all gel eyeliners which are much thicker in consistency as compared to liquid eyeliners, you will have to apply the Push-Up Liner in multiple strokes as only a tiny amount is pushed up per twist. I’m not particularly fond of this as I prefer to be able to draw a full length of eyeliner in one stroke, but then again, that is just my personal preference.

The Accuflex tip, which is like a hollow eyeliner brush, can be used in three ways: flat for the widest application; bottom for a thinner application; tip for a more precise, fine application. I did notice significant shrinking and gaps after my eyeliner has set, probably due to the eyeliner’s “lash-hugging” properties.

The Push-Up Liner is incredibly matte black, and like it’s accompanying Push-Up mascara, it is so water-resistant and smudge-proof that it is removable only with oil-based makeup removers/cleansers. After two rounds with my Sephora cleansing oil, there is still a little hint of panda eyes.

With its unconventional shape and application technique, Benefit’s They’re Real! Push-Up Liner is truly one of its kind, and to bring out its best results, you’ll need patience and practice.

Benefit’s They’re Real! Push-Up Liner retails for RM100 (1.4g) and are available at Benefit stores, kiosks and Sephora stores nationwide.
