Bourjois Silk Edition Compact Powder
Bourjois Silk Edition Compact Powder

The fact that Bourjois is Chanel Cosmetics‘ elder sister (yes, really) already boosts the brand’s credibility by leaps and bounds. Established in 1863, Bourjois has built quite a cult following with their Chanel-quality products but at drugstore prices. An insider revealed to me that our neighbours down south would purchase hundreds of products in a single transaction to bring home.

The Bourjois Silk Edition Compact Powder* is one of the prettiest compacts I’ve ever seen. Featuring at 360° degree rotating mirror, it is rather fun to swing it around. The compact powder, on the other hand, is beautifully fine and smooth. The silky texture rivals the professional makeup brands that are sold double or triple Silk Edition’s price.

The powder sets makeup quite well with a very matte finish, and lasts throughout the day even in our blazing hot and humid weather. This is good news for those with oily complexion. For dry/dull skin, it is indeed too matte (I finally understand why highlighting powders are invented) so I suggest using the powder sparingly.

Personally, I’m not a fan of sponges that come with compact powders. Stuffing a used sponge back into the compact makes me shudder, so what I’ve done is I’ve used a face brush, more specifically, Zoeva’s 102 Silk Finish, to apply the powder (as seen in my Instagram shot). Win!

The Bourjois Silk Edition Compact Powder retails for RM57.10 (9g) including GST and is available at the Bourjois kiosk, Sunway Pyramid (they have sales often!) and selected Watsons stores nationwide.
