Having heard great things about Fatboy’s burgers, I was thrilled to find a new branch just 15 minutes from home at the soon-to-be launched One City mall in USJ 25.
We paid our first visit on 31 August (Malaysia’s National Day), and my dad and I decided to share the Fat Basterd (RM29), which consists of double beef patties, extra thick bacon, cheese, fried egg and homemade Fatboy’s sauce on sesame bun. I don’t think anyone can finish this on their own.
Simply amazing. My dad is very fussy with his meats, and he gave the Fat Basterd his approval, and even stated that it’s comparable to the satisfaction of having a good steak. The beef patties were juicy and perfectly grilled.
The Fat Basterd is the burger bar’s bestseller, and I can see why.
I didn’t bring my camera then, so here’s an Instagram photo of the burger.
Fatboy’s also offers the Wimpy, half of the Fat Basterd at RM19.

My sister and I returned again on 16 September (Malaysia Day). The dates of our visits with Malaysia’s public holidays are purely coincidental.

The Big Bello

My sister chose the Elvis (RM16), consisting of bacon-stuffed pork patty, grilled bananas and creamy peanut butter on a honey oat bun. There were too much peanut butter on her burger that it wasn’t palatable, but the pork patty was moist and very flavourful.
I opted for the Big Bello (RM18.50), just to see if a veggie burger can satisfy tummies just as well as a meaty one. The Big Bello is made with grilled portobello mushrooms in balsamic vinegar, caramelised onions, grilled peppers and pineapple with melted mozarella, and smoked chipotle sauce on a wholemeal bun. I was impressed by the balance of the tangy, earthy and smoky flavours, and was very filling. The Big Bello is a must-try for herbivores.
And instead of serving shoe-lace french fries, Fatboy’s serves bigger wedges instead. That already is a meal on its own.

The burger bar prides themselves in providing comfort food, and I cannot wait to drop by Fatboy’s again to try even more burgers (maybe even customise one!)
Please note that Fatboy’s at One City closes at 8pm.
