Anna Sui, Guerlain, Issey Miyake, Taylor Swift and Valentino Parfums

Valentino Valentina

I had the privilege of having dinner last Thursday with Anna Sui, Guerlain, Issey Miyake, Taylor Swift and Valentino Parfums/Cosmetics last Thursday along with 11 other bloggers at Sage Restaurant & Wine Bar.
They couldn’t have selected a more appropriate venue for an intimate dinner and previews of the brands’ latest collections.
Elements Magazine’s Hui Yen got an invite too!

Cream of Porcini Mushroom Soup with Sea Scallop and White Truffle Oil.
I’m turning into a soup addict (maybe even a soup snob). Serve me a hot bowl of soup and I’m happy.
The truffle oil seals the flavours wonderfully.

Sarawak Pineapple Granite was served as a palate cleanser.

For the main course, I chose the Pan Roasted Chilean White Cod Fish with King Prawn and Shellfish Emulsion.
It’s easily the biggest portion of fish I’ve ever had, and unfortunately couldn’t finish it.

For dessert, we had Green Tea Bavarois with Adzuki Beans and Homemade Milk Ice Cream.
The combination of the bitter green tea with the sweet Adzuki beans and melt-in-your-mouth ice-cream was perfect!

The fantastic menu was prepared for us by Chef Daniel himself.

My personal favourite of the parfums featured was Valentino’s Valentina.
The notes feature bergamot, strawberry, jasmine, orange blossom, tuberose, cedar, amber, white truffle and vanilla. The fragrance was inspired by Rome and Italian flavours.
Valentina is available as 50ml (RM315) and 80ml (RM395) EDP with accompanying 200ml body lotion and shower gel.

Issey Miyake’s Pleats Please is also pretty good, and a little Oriental which I like.
The notes feature peony, patchouli, nashi and vanilla.
A little fun fact: The bottle draws inspiration from Issey Miyake’s cult Bilbao bag and pleats from his Pleats Please line.
Pleats Please will be launched in September and is only available in Asia and France in 30, 50 and 100ml EDT with accompanying body products.

Taylor Swift’s Wonderstruck is no doubt a bestseller (all thanks to her huge fan base worldwide)
Partnering with Elizabeth Arden (who seems to be dominating the celebrity fragrance market) the name Wonderstruck comes from the song ‘Enchanted’ on Taylor’s current album, ‘Speak Now’.
The top notes consists of raspberry, dewberry, green tea, freesia and apple blossom. The heart features sweet vanilla along with sundrenched honeysuckle and white hibiscus. The base notes are made up of golden amber, musk, sandalwood and peach are in the base.
Wonderstruck is available in 30, 50, 100ml EDP, retailing at RM150, RM195 and RM235 respectively.

The Guerlain Orchidarium Basic Research Laboratory underlined the extraordinary biological potential of the star orchids in the New-Generation Imperial Orchid Molecular Extract – the powerful secret of longevity at the heart of the Guerlain Orchidée Impériale range. The research also shows very valuable benefits of the Vanda teres orchid to fight against skin aging.

Anna Sui’s latest collection is named ‘Rebel Girl’, and is targeted to women with minds of their own and are able to make their own decisions.
Eyeshadow palettes are sold separately, and a 3-palette case is also available.
The collection features eyeshadows in powder, moist powder and cream form (RM40), eyeshadow palettes (RM35), pencil eyeliners (RM64) and limited edition lip rouges (RM88). The collection will be available in August 2012.

I cannot thank Luxasia enough for treating us to such a fun night!
Great food and great company? What more can a girl ask for?
